I like it by default. I've adjusted my HDR natively (if you will) -- through a 3rd party program and I don't often need to adjust it in-game. depends on your screen. if you give the info of what screen you own. someone might help you. 50/75 looks about right for me. Thanks for the responses.
AMD GPU> Open Adrenaline Software> Go to Games tab> Monitor sub-tab. On the Monitor tab> Check pixel format settings (Set to RGB 4:4:4 Full> Set highest intensity. Enable Personalized Color> Increase brightness to your liking, it won't have the same greying effect from TV settings.

Head to Settings > Screen and Video on your PS5 and look at the options under the Video Output tab. Set to Automatic, most of these should work, but if not, try bumping the Resolution or 4K Video

Something to try: the PS5 video settings menu has an “always use HDR” setting, which I believe converts non hdr content to an hdr signal (but it can’t do anything magic to make it actual hdr). If you’ve been playing games and trying to adjust your setting while this option on, try turning it off and then try one of your non-hdr games.

Unfortunately it is a game by game basis. Meaning, the UI looks way too dark with HDR on. But something like Demons Souls in game looks fine. If a game seems too dark or dim, just turn off HDR. One of the worst technology’s ever. Utterly confusing implementation and way too many variables.

PSA: turn off HDR on your ps5 when playing Control: Ultimate Edition. UPDATE: the PS5 has received a patch where the always on HDR can now be switched to auto toggle mode.
